ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

All participants will receive an attendance certificate, which will be included in the Meeting documents.

BADGES

Badges are essential for admission to scientific sessions, social events, exhibition and poster area.

The ILIC IV and/or its agents have the right for any reason beyond their control to alter or cancel, without prior notice, the Meeting or any of the arrangements, timetables, plans or other items relating directly or indirectly to Meeting. The Organisation and/or AOPC shall not be liable for any loss, damage, expenditure or inconvenience caused to participants and their belongings either during or as a result of the Meeting or as a result of such alteration or cancellation. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

FINAL PROGRAMME

The final programme will be given out on-site upon arrival at the venue. However, please check this web site for updated information before coming to the Meeting.

LANGUAGE

The official language of the congress will be English. All lectures, sessions and activities will be held in English only. No translation will be provided.

A lost and found service will be available at the Registration desk.

SURVIVAL IN BARCELONA

BANKS AND EXCHANGE

Officialng hours of banks in Spain are from 8.30 to 14.00 h. from Monday to Friday, closed in the afternoon. It is possible to change foreign currency into Euros in the main city hotels.

CREDIT CARDS AND TRAVEL CHECKS

Most hotels, restaurants and shops in Barcelona accept major credit cards.

CURRENCY

The currency in Spain is the Euro (€). All fees and rates are charged in Euros. No other currency will be accepted.

ELECTRICITY

The electric current in Spain is 220-240 Volts, 50 Hz.

SHOPPING HOURS

Monday to Saturday, from 10.00 to 14.00 h. and from 16.30 to 20.00 h. Department stores do not close at mid-day.

TRANSPORT INFORMATION

Arrival by Plane

The airport is located 12 kilometres to the south of the city. Most European airlines, and many international ones, operate flights from its international terminal. The airport has three terminals. International airlines operate from terminal A; domestic flights by IBERIA, Air Europa and Spanair operate from terminal B as do British Airways and Lufthansa flights. Terminal C is used by Iberia 's Barcelona-Madrid shuttle.

From the Airport to Barcelona by train

The Renfe Cercanías Line 10 links the airport with the centre of the city and the Sants and França railway stations.

Stops: Airport - El Prat de Llobregat - Bellvitge - Barcelona Sants Railway Station - Paseo de Gracia - França Railway Station.

Journey duration: 32 minutes.

Timetable: Departures from the airport, from 06:00 to 23:44 ; departures from the França Railway Station, from 5:12 to 22:42 . Every 30 minutes.

From the Airport to Barcelona by Aerobus

Stops: In front of Terminals A, B and C

Timetable:

From Mondays to Fridays: departures from the airport, from 06:00 to 01:00; from Plaza de Catalunya, from 05:30 to 00:15.

Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: departures from the airport, from 06:35 to 01:00 ; from Plaza Catalunya, from 06:00 to 00:15.

From Monday to Friday every 9 minutes. Saturday, Sunday and holidays every 12 minutes.

Taxi

Stops: Opposite terminals A, B and C.

Barcelona has a fleet of 11,000 taxis, which can be easily identified by their yellow and black livery. A green light on top of the taxi indicates its availability. There is also a fleet of taxis adapted for people with reduced mobility. If you want to hire specific services (drivers who speak foreign languages, seven-seats vehicles, etc.) we recommend you use the telephone booking service.

Public transport

Barcelona city centre has rapid transport links, including six metro lines and an extensive fleet of buses. We recommend you use public transport and even if you come to the city by car your best bet is to leave your vehicle in a car park and enjoy your visit by bus or metro.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

VAT will be charged at the official rate prevailing at the time of invoice. Neither the Organisation nor AOPC accepts responsibility for any changes, which may occur due to an official increase in VAT. (In spanish is called IVA)

VISA

Participants requiring a visa for entry to Spain are strongly advised to make their application in their home country at least three months before the intended date of travel. If in doubt, information can be obtained from your nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate.

WEATHER

Barcelona has a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool winters and hot summers. July is characterized by mean daily temperatures of about 22 - 27 ºC, although temperature peaks of 30 - 32 ºC are frequent. Night temperatures can be relatively warm (19 - 22 ºC). Rooms with air-conditioning are recommended. Relative humidity usually is quite high (between 65% and 75%), increasing the temperature feeling. July is usually dry, although some stormy showers can occur.
