GUIDELINES FOR ORAL PRESENTATION
Projection
- PC projection (Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or 97 for PC, not Macintosh) will be available in the two parallel sessions. Single slide projection and transparencies / overheads will not be considered standard equipment and will not be provided.
- Writing on the Power Point slides should be brief and lettering should be made large enough to be readable. Please use dark colours (dark blue) for the background and light colours (yellow) for the letters.
- The time allocated to each standard oral presentation is 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes of discussion. Key notes will last 20 minutes followed by 5 minutes of discussion
Auditorium Room: Speaker’s room and delivering of oral communications
- The speaker’s room will be located in the Auditorium Room, on the floor –2 and will remainfrom Wednesday 11th July to Saturday 14th July (ng hours to be confirmed). A technician specifically designated for receiving oral communications will assist you.
- Presenting authors of oral communications are kindly requested to hand in their CD or memory stick and check them through at the speaker’s room from the day before of their presentation to, at least, one hour before the presentation at the speaker’s room.
- Authors are not permitted to use their own laptops. The meeting will provide a laptop in each parallel session.
The general procedure during the oral sessions will be:
- The chairperson willthe session and introduce the first speaker
- The first oral (key note) presentation in each oral session will be usually a bit longer (20 minutes). Later on, the chairperson will conduct short questions and discussion (5 minutes).
- For the other speakers there will be also a short introduction, 10 minutes for oral presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
- It will be the Criterion of the Chairperson, if there is time available, to proceed with a general discussion at the end of the session.
Check-list
- Make sure you can present your paper in the time allocated for your presentation.
- Please note that the laptop for presentation will be located on a table. Please check the forward and backward keys.
- A technician will stay close to the laptop table to assist you.
GUIDELINES FOR POSTER PREPARATION
In order to efficiently communicate the results of your research to the congress attendants, you are kindly requested to design properly your poster. Please pay attention to details by carefully following the guidelines hereby outlined.
- Posters should be prepared in advance and should be brought in person by the authors. DO NOT MAIL YOUR POSTER.
- The dimensions of your poster must NOT exceed the 93,5 cm (width) by 140 cm (height).
- Posters should be legible from a distance of 1 to 2 meters. Use 3 to 4 cm high letters for the title of your poster. The names of the authors, institution, city and country should be indicated by 2 or 3 cm high letters.
- It is advisable to organize your poster in sections: Introduction, Geological setting, Results and Conclusions.
- Assembling and dismantling
SETTING UP: The poster should be put up on the indicated day at 08:30 h.
DISMANTLING: The same day and no sooner than 19:30h.
The Poster area will be located in front of and nearby the Auditorium Room. Please note there will be two poster sessions by day, and that you are asked to be present at your poster location during both sessions.
A different subset of the posters will be on display each day from Wednesday to Saturday.
Posters will be displayed all day, from 8:30h to 19:30h. Poster authors should plan to be in attendance at their poster on the indicated day and during the morning and the afternoon poster sessions. Presence during part of the lunch time is also encouraged, but not required.
A hostess will assist you in finding the location of your poster. A poster kit (material for sticking the posters) will be provided to each author at the Congress Secretariat. Please note that other materials such as pushpins will not be allowed.
- The Congress will not be responsible for any loss or damage occurred to posters left on the panel. Posters left on the panel will not be mailed to the authors after the Congress.
- The board of your poster will be numbered with the number indicated in the letter we sent you (i.e. P21). The congress attendants will find your poster according to the title of your submitted abstract and the poster number as stated in the final programme.
